He shared with us some of his best advice when it comes to goal setting, time management, and working more efficiently in today’s evolving market.

Key takeaways:

  • It’s the process, not the product, that you want to fall in love with.

  • Hard markets don’t intimidate the best agents.

  • Continuous learning will keep you inspired and informed.

  • Daily routines are integral to staying positive and productive.

  • Discipline and consistency are crucial elements to maintaining success over time.

Activity in today’s real estate market remains slow due largely to high mortgage rates and home prices in comparison to previous years. What advice do you have for REALTORS® who are discouraged by these difficult market conditions?

In challenging market conditions, maintaining a positive mindset is key. Focus on what you can control—your skills, expertise, and client service. Stay adaptable and be willing to adjust your strategies as market dynamics shift. Networking with peers can provide valuable support and fresh perspectives. Additionally, there is a huge opportunity for success in challenging markets. The best agents in the industry were built during hard markets.

Staying motivated can be difficult for anyone, especially when business is slow. What are some tips you can offer to help REALTORS® overcome a lack of motivation?

When facing a slump, it's important to reconnect with your purpose and goals. Start by breaking down larger goals into smaller, manageable tasks. Celebrate small victories to stay motivated. Engage in continuous learning through workshops, webinars, or reading industry publications to stay inspired and informed. Establish a daily routine that includes exercise, meditation, or personal development activities to maintain a positive mindset and boost productivity. Fall in love with the process, not the product. Success equals discipline and consistency over time.

How should REALTORS® approach goal setting if it’s their first time?

For those new to goal setting, begin by defining clear and specific objectives. Make them measurable to track progress effectively. Prioritize goals that align with your long-term vision for your real estate career. Break down goals into actionable steps and regularly review and adjust them as needed. Seek mentorship or guidance from experienced colleagues or coaches to refine your goal-setting approach. Focus on priority management versus time management.

What are some daily practices you recommend REALTORS® take to level up their business?

Create a workday startup routine and a workday ending routine. This should consist of reviewing your calendar for the day to start and reviewing the next day at the end of each day. It should also include time for you to be in your CRM in the morning and evening. Dedicate time to prospecting and lead generation activities consistently. Stay organized with technology tools and systems that streamline workflows and enhance efficiency.

What advice do you have for REALTORS® who are having a difficult time leaving their comfort zone?

Stepping outside your comfort zone is not just a one-time event; it's a practice that requires consistent effort. Similar to going to the gym or learning a new skill, it takes deliberate work and commitment. Start by incorporating small challenges into your daily routine to gradually acclimate yourself to discomfort. These could be as simple as initiating a conversation with someone new or volunteering for a task that stretches your abilities. Each small step builds resilience and expands your comfort zone.

Continuously pushing beyond familiar boundaries is crucial for personal and professional growth. It cultivates adaptability, resilience, and confidence in facing new challenges. Embrace discomfort as a sign of progress and learning. Celebrate your successes, no matter how small, as they signify your willingness to evolve and improve. By consistently practicing stepping outside your comfort zone, you develop the mindset and skills necessary to crush it in any environment.

Should every REALTOR® hire a coach? Why or why not?

Not every agent should hire a coach. When I work with elite level athletes, I tell them, if you're not dedicated to learning and creating long-term change, then it's not worth it. It's the same in real estate. The best athletes in the world have personal coaches, but they also make the choice on a daily basis to make the small decisions to be the best. Hiring a coach should be about taking you from 100% to 120% or more, not from 80% to 100%. You have to choose to level up. When you're ready to make that choice, then you should hire a coach. We learn from experiences in life, but they don't have to be our own. Hiring a coach can fast-forward your success when you're ready.
